Up at 3,360 metres, the high Alpine climb takes you via the Grat to the Hochalmspitze. The sport via ferrata beside Carinthia’s highest waterfall is inspirational, with breathtaking views down into the depths.
Friends of granite and gneiss climbing really get their money’s worth! In the Maltatal there are 4 climbing gardens and some individual rock routes with climbs from the fifth to the tenth degree of difficulty.
The largest and most popular climbing garden is the “Klettergarten Kreuzwand" with routes up to 60 metres high, which are consistently well secured with bolts. (rock = granite, migmatite and gneiss)
Fallbach via ferrata
Nothing takes one as quickly and easily to the completely unaccustomed sensation of being exposed on a vertical rock face as the steel rope on the new via ferrata in the Maltatal, with the ever-present rainbow along Carinthia’s highest waterfall for company.
