Sculpture Garden by Fritz Russ
In a very special garden on the banks of the river Malta the metal artist, Fritz Russ displays his vast collection of free-standing sc metal sculptures.

House Gallery of Fritz Russ and Birgit Bachmann
Situated on the narrow laneway known as the “Kirchgasse” you will find the gallery housing three very different exhibition rooms full of atmosphere and art. This exhibition has been a firm favourite for many years in the “Kunstlerstadt”.
Opening times: Open all year round, daily from 10.00am to 19.00hrs. Free admission.
Int. Guest Studio at “Maltator”
For the past 15 years the “Künstlerstadt” has been inviting international artists to the guest studio in Gmünd. The artists work for two months in the atmospheric surroundings of this small town and present their works that have been created and inspired here in the form of a brochure.

The Gallery in the Town Tower
This gallery has been running exhibitions from well-known Austrian artists such as Max Weiler, Alfred Hrdlicka, Hans Staudacher and VALIE EXPORT to mention just a few.
Opening times from mid May to the End of September daily from 10.00am to 12.30 and from 15.30 to 18.00hrs. Admission required. Holders of the Kärnten Card are welcome here.
Galerie Gmünd
Young emerging contemporary Austrian artists present 3-4 changing exhibitions during the summer months at the Gallery on the “Hinteren Gasse”. Open from May/ June to end September, from 10.00am to 12.30 and from 15.30hrs to 18.00hrs. Free admission.
Cultural Centre – “Alte Burg”
Exhibitions from artists around the Alpe Adria region with free admission are on show here. Other cultural events including theatre, literature, concerts and cabaret also take stage here at the old castle over looking the town of Gmünd.

Photogalerie Gmünd
The new photo gallery located at the bridge when entering the town features two changing photographic exhibitions per year.
Opening times from May to October, daily from
10.00am to 18.00hrs, Free admission.
The Painting Workshop Gmünd
Here children are given the opportunity to dive into the art world by meeting artists at work in their studios to being creative with their pencils and colours.

The weekly Thursday painting day also takes place from 10.00am to 12.30 in the painting workshop. Prebooking for the weekly Thursday event is not necessary.

Colourful Programme of Cultural Events
The local cultural clubs and associations organise a full programme of events from Jazz, blues, classical concerts and recitals to traditional bands and choirs. Theatre and cabaret can be found at the “Alte Burg”. The annual Gmündner Alpe Adria literature festival takes
place every year in October. The colourful art and handcrafts market takes place on the 1st weekend in August and the every popular town festival takes place in August. The annual carnival in Gmünd takes place every year starting on Carnival Tuesday.

The newly renovated and technically equipped “Lodronsche Reitschule” and the “Stadtsaal” are ideal venues for any conference or event. Gmünd, a town rich in art and culture, provides a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere for any event.
GUIDED TOURS
Enjoy an educational tour of the town with one of our expertly informed guides. Tours available for one or two hours with prices from € 3,- and € 4,50 per person respectively.
Minimum number of participants is ten. During the summer months of July and August the tours take place every Thursday departing from the “Rathaus” (town hall) at 10.00 – 12.00 with a cost of € 4,50 per person.
